Replaced by: Travis Ludlow flight plans
Introduction
This bush trip covers Travis Ludlow's Around The World Solo Trip. He started in Teuge, the Netherlands on May 29, 2021 and flew around the world in a Cessna 172. Travis returned to Teuge on July 12 having spent 44 days completing the 24,900 mile (40,072km) journey and breaking the world record of youngest pilot to fly solo around the world.
After Teuge Travis flew back to the United Kingdom where he lives. I've also included that leg. More info about his tour around the world can be found on his homepage.
The Project
This is my first attempt to create a bush trip. This project took many days to create, but it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about MSFS. Many thanks to Travis for sharing detailed flight information about all the legs of his tour. I had the privilege to meet Travis when he landed in Teuge.
I used BushTripInjector to create this Bush Trip. You can download this applicaton on this site for free. Thanks to the developer, BuffyGC, for helping me to get started.
I've created two versions. The glass cockpit for users who have the Standard edition of MSFS and the analog cockpit for the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions.
Recenlty I've also published the flight plan for this trip if you don't like the limitations of bush trips.
Requirements and important notes
- One of the airfields of this trip, BGBW in Greenland, is not included in MSFS. You can download it here from this site. Install this airport before you start this bush trip. I've also listed all the other available airports that Travis visited. You can find these optional installs under Dependencies at the bottom of this page.
- Crispy136 has made a beautiful livery of Travis Ludlow's C172. This really adds to the immersion! He has made 3 versions. You can download it here. Make sure to check the readme PDF on how to integrate the livery into this bush trip.
- The C172 that Travis used on this trip has been fitted with a special diesel engine with exceptional long range. Some of these legs are quite long. You won't have enough fuel to cover those legs with the standard C172 engine from MSFS. So I would recommend to bind a keyboard shortcut to the "Repair and refuel" option to bypass this limitation.
- If you want to use the NAV autopilot function, please make sure the navigation is set to GPS. Also, don't forget to set your altitude to match with the terrain you are flying over. This avoids close encounters with mountains ;-)
- The zip file contains two bush trips. One for the glass cockpit and one for the analog cockpit. Only install one of these two to avoid conflicts.
Time zone problem
This bush trip covers many countries around the whole world so you eventually will end up flying in the dark due to the time zones. MSFS does not support setting starting times in each bush trip leg. You can vote for this functionality here ;-)
You can reset the time to daytime during a flight by going into dev mode, select Options, slide the Local time back to daytime and return to the bush trip with dev mode deactivated. However, this has a very annoying side effect. Your leg progress will be reset to 0% and your flghts will not show in your log book.
Another method is change the time in your savegame file. Follow these steps to do this:
- Before starting the bush trip, search for the following file: BT-EHTE-EGTB_SAVE.FLT
- Open the file with Notepad or Notepad++ and search for the section called [DateTimeSeason]
- Change Hours to 7 and save the file
- Start the bush trip. The time should be now set back to 7.
Installation
Unzip and copy to Community folder of MSFS. Don't forget to install airport BGBW!
SaveGame files now included
I've completed the bush trip myself. According to MSFS it took 151 hours. In reality it was a bit more. I had to refly a few legs due to technical issues. I've included my savegame files in a seperate zip so you can fly any leg without doing the whole trip.

Is editing the .FLT file in the bush trip enough to make this work? And if so, what should the below setting read?
