Full airport reconstruction
The airport is now operational with continuing updates
Installing updated versions for EGKK and Best way to clear your cache and get rid of old data indexes.Manual Cache not recommended, best to let fs2020 automatically manage.
- 1) Delete the older version 'gatwick' from community folder
- 2) Start fs2020 and spawn to default Gatwick
- 3) Close Fs2020 and install New version into community folder as 'gatwick'
- 4) Open fs2020
This method will solve the problem of scenery not appearing, or overlapping models
ONLY GATES are serviced by Jetways. Even if you are on a Left side stand, and it looks closer if its a RAMP position the jetway will not move, instead call for steps.
DOCKING SYSTEM
stay in default pilot (No.1) view position, do not zoom in or out when approaching. Works best on a 1080p screen.

Download zip and open.
Drag or extract from zip into community folder as the folder name 'gatwick' Do not drag a new update into an older gatwick version. It must be deleted and the updated version extracted/dragged into the community folder

I'm not going to lie I've had this scenery since it's first version but do occasionally swap around to the Origami Studios version as there are minor details which I like more about it (mainly around the main entrance of the North Terminal/Shuttle terminal) and the PI is a bit more accurate.
However that being said I do mainly use yours, most importantly as your aircraft parking is 100x better than the payware version as the aircraft use the remote stands to the West. This is something the other version does not have and to me that makes a huge difference when flying out of Gatwick and stops the annoying aircraft swapping at a single gate where several aircraft are spawning in and out.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what else you have in store for the scenery and for it's future updates too.
Also, the AI appear to be using both runways to take off in the latest version (well I say both), they tend to line up but not always take off, some do take off 26L but not many, all seem to land with no issues however.

Those pesky Ai planes, don’t they know that the north runway is disabled for takeoff/landing. Even the SDK cannot stop them!

Hi, i really love this scenery and it is amazing however whenever i try this scenery i get an issue i have tried everything i could find as well as updating and reinstalling my drivers but nothing has seemed to work if you could help that would be really appreciated.

Question: is there or would there be a way to switch on the runway and approach lights of runway 08L/26R? At VATSIM the ATC sometimes get bored and NOTAM runway 08R/26L as "closed", e.g. for construction and we need to land on the other runway that is normally used as a taxiway. Maybe tune some radio to a certain frequency to activate those lights?

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Is there a way to normally have this runway lit up as a taxiway and only have its runway lights switched ON under certain conditions that can be controlled by the pilot? I have no idea how interactive MSFS is.

Yes a lot of textures were way too high resolution, some at 100mb file size, only notable if you get right up close to certain brick wall textures

AI with FSLTL using runway 08R - Aircraft line up on runway but do not take off, they just disappear after timeout. It appears they approach the runway but do not hold to get clearance for take off, they just go straight on runway. Not sure if this relates or is caused by the position of hold nodes mentioned in an earlier comment I had seen. The FSLTL AI traffic to 08R seem to use Taxiway G to enter runway, they do not go as far up as H and J. When you have a chance could you check there are hold nodes on all these three entries to Runway 08R i.e. Taxiways G, H and J.
Thanks for all your hard work with perfecting this airport. In my opinion it is by far the most detailed and realistic available.

Hi, I have some feedback too. Firstly, thank you so much for your efforts to get AI to behave well in your scenery.
When 26L is in use the AI all go to B1 from N to hold. Then when given take-off clearance they taxi down AS and enter the runway via A1, taxi down the runway to abeam BR before starting the take-off. Would it be possible to get the AI to line up via B from B1? Also, would it be possible to have the holding points A1 and M1 in use as well?

Now when I use FSLTL and they takeoff from 8R they stay at the start of runway and dont move, eventually vanishing (as that is how FSLTL works)
Normal in sim live traffic seems to be ok.
Great work as usual - better than payware stuff. Thankyou for this always a joy to see this airport.

I must admit I took a drone view up in cloudy conditions at sunset and viewed the whole airport and thought, holy moly did I do all that, just one person !!

On the previous version, V23.1.8, i downloaded the second file, where it had both runways available, since as i said i do not use navigraph/fstl/ai, just the multiplayer on some cases. In the new version, does ai still use both the runways, or just the southern one?

All of the hold short modes are in place, especially A,M,B 26L end. I think i removed some 08R end due to Ai getting snagged for some reason.
I will see if i can disable to northern runway to FALSE as you say, will have another look! that would be great so as to hopefully get navigraph working.
Textures, sure. but they are interlinked so if i resize one to say 1k, many many models will have to be redone... a huge task. (I was just learning about PBR and blender when i started EGKK, had no idea about RGB PBR, just used roughness.png for the RGB!!!

I will try to test it later today... fingers crossed. As for the hold short nodes I think you are right - there are many of them for 26L and I think in this direction AI departs fine. The probelm seems to be 8R - from my observations AI always chooses the shortest path from parking to the runway start location so if there is no hold short node on such path the AI will get stuck and never takeoff - I believe this is what we see now with 8R. Maybe it would make sense to experiment a bit adding some more hold short nodes for 8R? Maybe just limit the number of taxiways connected to 8R to single one and put hold short node there so you avoid AI going crazy? Just a thought. Thanks again for your great work!

I did one more experiment just recently - I created a simple project in ADE using your single runway version (not the latest one from today) as a base, removed everything except runway, taxiways and parking/gates. Then I added hold short nodes to every taxiway connected to the runway (in quite random places, I didn't follow the real markings or whatsever), then I compiled it and put in my community folder below your scenery (folder name zzz-gatwick-fix). With this fix AI departs from 8R quite well so I believe it confirms my theory about missing hold short nodes making AI stuck. If you like I can send you the airport xml and the whole binary package so you see the hold short nodes I added, just give me an email or any other place where I can upload it.

Ai will be improved by Asobo in the next updates so I’m sure things will get better. Ai is the single biggest problem with making airports. Could have progressed 10x faster without Ai

well, AI is almost the same as it was in FSX and P3D, I doubt if they will improve a lot, maybe better separation on approach, better handling of sids, stars, go-arounds (and hopefully code optimisation so it doesn't consume so much CPU or the AI processing goes away from the main thread)... but IMO the groud operations will stay as they are so all the taxiways, hold shorts etc will still have a big impact on AI, I do not expect miracles - and because of that I'd love to have AI working fine with your EGKK 😊

Texture size and models have nothing to do as you are not changing the UV Layout, you can even resize them in any graphic software without ever even opening blender, especially some stuff like Normal maps.

Converted most of the textures to 1024x1024... did a test and it works fine.. always wanted to do that. Can only really see a difference up close to a brick wall, happy days... i will keep the original texture folder in case of any complaints... maybe do a 2K version as well!

While ive used and enjoyed this airport for a while i think its now time to stop using it , performance is now just to bad with it affecting things 60 miles away when looking in its direction. inibuilds heathrow performs better than this

it is disappointing i think your version is a lot better maybe some optimisation on LOD's may improve it.. to be fair im not getting bad fps its loading stutters as you look towards it or get close which does usually indicate a non optimised object

There probably comes a point where no matter how many lods you make (which massively increases project size) due to the size of the airport. I am working on a huge update where all the textures will be reduced to 1024x1024, as there are quite a few 4k and even some 6k ones at the moment

So Im having a big Issue with the update. Unfortunetly, there is no aircraft departing when using fsltl. The AI Plane just disapears when ready for Pushback. Tested other airports no problem. So it has to be the airport messing something up.
Please advise what to do love the airport, but would be very f* up if I cant use it anymore with FSLTL AI Traffic.

Yes Planes taxiing in default Version. But no plane taking off from 26R only L in default and in your previous version. Ai lines up 26 R and then they just disapear after 2 minutes do you have a fix for the issue?

Do you have MSFS Glass materials with high alpha values around this airport because with MSFS Glass and alpha something like over 0.23 creates weird visual vibrations.. and especially the south terminal here has some places that got that kind of visual vibrations that could be caused by the MSFS Glass bug

Thanks for version 23.1.9 for us Navigraph Users. STARS for Gatwick now available in MSFS own Flight planner as well. Sadly though, it means that dual runways will be in use but as you say, it's the only way Navigraph Users can use your Gatwick Mod.

latest update 23.1.8 do you have gates for ATRs as when the flight from NQY lands..just disappears on runway. the virgin shed...is it supposed to be black entrance walls? scenery is incredible tho..love it
