The Henry Hudson Bridge is the first of a series of bridges I am handcrafting for the Harlem River. It is a double deck bridge, 3 lane upper, 4 lane lower deck, at the Hudson River entry to the Harlem River which runs along the east side of Manhattan Island to the East River. It was the longest plate girder arch and fixed arch bridge in the world when it opened in 1936.
v2 adds the Spuyten Duyvil Rail Bridge. This handcrafted bridge is adjacent to the Henry Hudson. The iron girder swing bridge opened in 1900 to allow river traffic and is still in use with about 30 rail crossings per day.
