New Tool for MSFS Cinematic Creators!

FS-log Introduction:
FS-log is a reshade preset that simulates the log profile on real cameras in sim, providing more possibilities in post-production for cinematic creators out there.
Origin:
The idea behind this whole thing is just to allow more flexibility in the post color grading part. The default colors and looks of the game are very oversaturated and graded to give the cinematic look out of the box. And it never really works when I try to color grade the footage in cinematic video projects, the footage just straight up looks weird. I think that footage with log looks will give more space for creativity for cinematic creators. To be honest, anyone can probably make something like this in a short period of time. But I just want it to be there when someone somehow needs it at some point.
How it works:
Log is a color profile that provides the most data and details of the image. Video files recorded in the log format have a washed-out and greyish look with the highlights brought down and the shadows brought up, therefore all the details in those areas can be recovered in post. Log profiles from each camera manufacturer are different from one another, like V-log from Panasonic Lumix cameras, S-log from Sony, D-log from DJI, Log C from Arri Alexa, C-log from Canon, N-log from Nikon, etc. And FS-log is the profile I have created for FS2020. I do not know if it is any useful cuz after all this whole thing is kind of stupid, but I gave it a shot anyways. The effects of FS-log is achieved through the LUT effect in ReShade, I edited the color curves in photoshop and dropped the LUT effect in sim.
Installation:
- Download ReShade from reshade.me
- Install ReShade for MSFS (help yourself with the tutorials online)
- Drag and drop the “FS-log.ini” file into your main Microsoft Flight Simulator directory, NOT the community folder (for Steam users).
Note: I don’t know about the Microsoft Store version, you’ll have to figure it out, sorry I can’t help. - Run MSFS and press the Home key to access the ReShade settings interface.
- Select “FS-log.ini” as the preset with the top dropdown menu and you’re rolling!

- Screenshots of the preset
- FS-log to REC.709 LUT (color space transform LUT)
- A creative LUT just for demonstration
Notes:
- This preset is by no means a serious addon and should not be taken seriously as a real tool. (unless you actually find it working well, I don’t know)
- This preset is not tested with the Microsft Store version of the sim.
- This is not a real log profile, it just simulates one. Though it should give you the same effect as a real log effect.
