MSFS's built-in FBW is an amazing system to fly calmly as it automatically retains the load factor by the pilot's input. However, when you need more fine-grained control of flight surfaces, FBW tends to make it harder as the change of the elevators becomes more sticky sometimes.

You can see the differences between built-in FBW vs. non-FBW by doing a simple loop maneuver. Once you reach a 90/-90 degree pitch angle, FBW tends to overcorrect elevators, and G-force would change drastically in the blink of an eye.

These behaviors are not ideal for tight formation flight in some situations.

Toggling FBW

The FBW toggle button gives you the ability to enable/disable all of them with one tap for any FBW aircraft (e.g., Asobo's F/A-18E.)

You may think the button is an equivalent of ELAC/FAC/SEC buttons located on the upper console in Asobo's A320neo.

Installation

Copy `spitice-fbw-toggle` folder to the community package folder.

To uninstall, simply remove `spitice-fbw-toggle` from the community package folder.

Usage

Press the button located in the in-game toolbar. It will disable all FBW computers (i.e., ELAC/FAC/SEC) when at least one of them is active.

Do you want to restore the FBW system? Press the button again :)

One click per flight

This addon only retains the FBW state for the current flight session.

If you want to turn off FBW permanently and feel lazy to press the FBW toggle button every time, consider tweaking the aircraft's `flight_model.cfg` by changing `fly_by_wire = 1` to `fly_by_wire = 0`.

Q&A

After "FBW DISABLED", the elevator trim is still moved by the sim

FBW feedback loop would keep running for a while after the deactivation.
It sometimes needs a few seconds to be ceased. The flight condition may affect the duration.

Until then, try to keep level flight.

It shows "FBW is NOT AVAILABLE" even though the airplane seems to use FBW

When the third-party developer uses their implementation for simulating FBW and does not use built-in FBW, the toggle button cannot interfere with their FBW, and it recognizes as a non-FBW airplane.

Unfortunately, the third-party FBW systems vary from product to product, so the toggle button would not be helpful.
