Presenting the F/A-18E Super Hornet in the multicolour markings of bomber squadron 5 operating from CV-5 USS Yorktown during the late 1930s. The markings feature bright yellow on the upper wings, primary colours (different for each plane in the squadron) on the nose and rear tail section and a bare metal fuselage. This repaint specifically depicts the paint adorning the number 7 plane in the squadron while it operated Northrop BT-1 divebombers in 1938, with a blue nose, red tail and blue band aft of the wings. The squadron insignia, "the winged mask of Satan", is painted below the canopy. The blue diagonal lines on the upper wing surfaces were to aid the pilots to position their aircraft for flying in a chevron formtion.
The BT-1 would be a brief evolutionary step in the development of carrier based aircraft and would inspire the development of the SBD-Dauntless dive/scout bomber that would become one of the US NAVY's main aerial offensive weapons during the war in the Pacific in the second World War and would replace the BT-1 directly as the mount of VB-5. The Dauntless would also receive far more subtle paint schemes during the course of the war.
This camo is incredibly beautiful ! The Navy should use it in real life 😊 Really good work.

Any chance of getting this for the Super Warrior mod as well?

This is awesome! We probably wouldn't have won the war by March, 1942 if we hadn't had those F/A-18s in the fleet.
Love this idea, and would love to see a late-war Corsair-style blue/aqua/light paint!
So many cool potential ideas with these retro paints... An F-16 or F-15 based on a P-51 paint..
Anyway, just thinking out loud! Going to go enjoy this one!

Well all those Mig 28s Tom Cruise shot down over Guadalcanal really turned the tide of the war of course.
As for the mid war NAVY camouflage, I actually have a repaint of that done here: https://flightsim.to/file/24113/boeing-f-a-18e-super-hornet-vfa-122-1943-centennial-of-naval-aviation-paint-scheme
That one was a genuine commemorative scheme the NAVY really painted on a legacy Hornet

Great fun livery. Thank you very much.
Would prefer the roundels on the lower wings on the outside though.

That was my first choice actually but the hinges for the ailerons meant I either had to paint them over the hinges (which looked a little funny to me) or I had to make them quite small which didn't look quite right either considering everything about this livery is about being big and bright.
