Pulau Layang-Layang Airport is a small island airport build on partial reclaimed land on the Spratly Islands of the South China Sea. Currently maintained and run by the Royal Malaysian Airforce and Navy.
A Scuba Diving Resort is also built on the island catering to tourists. Flights are conducted by Malaysia Airlines subsidiary MASWings using the ATR72-500 on weekly seasonal basis. No commercial flights are scheduled during monsoon seasons and the resort will be closed during this period. All flights are conducted on visual basis with no navigation aid build in the vicinity of the airport.
Currently only Bay 3 is in use for commercial activity while Bay 1 and 2 is strictly in use by the military along with the helipad. Runway length is 1367M capable of handling ATR72, Cessna Citation, and the C130.
