! FOR LIVERIES MAKER: YOU MAY REUSE MY FILES IF YOU NEED TO ADD THINGS IN VC (like registration plates for example) SO YOUR LIVERIES DOESN'T CONFLICT WITH MY MOD !
This mod is a complete overhaul of the maddog cockpit (only the brown default version) using higher resolution textures that has been enhanced through multiple techniques and softwares for much finer and greater details. Some parts of the VC has even been handmade retextured from scratch where enhancing techniques were not giving acceptable enough results. Bear in mind that I'm not a texture artist though and I've done the best I could so some textures are not yet the best.
It is intended to be a work in progress though.
It comes in two version for optimization purpose: one with highest resolution for some textures not exceeding 8K, the other version with the two most important textures going as high as 16K (which is shown as "main file" here) for extra details and sharpness. Pick one according to your specs (especially VRAM wise) or test the two and see if that impacts your FPS/smoothness.
! DON'T USE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME !
Remember the screenshots here are too compressed and not big enough that you can really see the difference. I assure you it's night and day :)
Installation :
- Unzip either the 8K or 16K into your community folder, as with any other mod (or using any Addons lnker)
- Just don't put both into community folder at the same time, they will conflict with each other
- Enjoy ;)
Almost the entirety of the cockpit has been overhauled but bear in mind 95% is still Leonardo's own textures. They have not been simply upscaled but touched up, cleaned sometimes, redrawn/replaced occasionnaly. However, there are still couples of parts of the cockpit I'm not happy with but would need entire handmade repaint. I'm going to work on it in future versions (like the air masks hose for example, some placards if I can find real pictures etc)
Some PBR works have been added here and there, like now most of the analog gauges have reflections, same for some buttons etc.

Are you using AI upscaling by chance?

Will there be an update for this to work in the newly release MD 83/88 Expansion?

This is very good 16k as well as 8k, too bad it seems it doesn"t work with Leonardo's custom liveries :/

Very nice! One thing I noticed though is the engine exhaust from the exterior view is not rendering correctly and shows erroneous "square" textures. Perhaps an installation error on my part, but is anyone else having this issue as of late?

I Love it!!!
Any possibilility on doing the blue version in the future?

I’ve tried only the 8K version and it is no less than 5 stars! Absolutely brilliant! Hope it would also work with the different colored cockpits then this would be worth 6 stars.

I'm working on it ;)

Nicely done, beautiful art work the 16k version. But i only could try it on the default leomardo's liverie... but, if i load another liverie (with the brown cockpit) the textures it doesn't apply the new plane. I dont know why, but i think that the problem is the installation order of the mod and the new liverie, could this be my problem?

Thank you for your feedback :)
Yes, I fear the problem is very much pertaining to that specific livery you're experiencing the problem with. The problem is that cockpit variations, when they exists, are specific to liveries. For example, the blue version texture files are always stored in the concerned livery own folders so as to replace the default brown textures, meaning it acts as a replacer mod just like mine does. As such, if any livery contains VC cockpit textures, it will override mine, regardless of mod order (livery will always have the last priority). They do so when they use the blue cockpit variation, or for something as simple as adding a register plate on main panel, or a checklist on yoke etc.
As such, It would require me to release an independent mod for each and every livery that changes cockpit. Not feasible.
I don't know what can I do about it although I'm actively trying to find a solution.
Best bet would be to develop some form of installer that will detect each liveries concerned and overwrite their cockpit files with mine, although you'd lose every changes/addition the livery painter made, such as register plates etc.
It's a direct result of Leonardo not using any of the decals system of texturing ASOBO has implemented in MSFS.

Sadly it doenst work for me. I deleted the Rolling Chache, installed the 8k Version, used a Livery with a brown Cockpit, but the textures are the same old.

First off, what does deleting the rolling cache have to do with a texture replacement mod for a third party aircraft which would not interfere with scenery? Second of all, how are you able to determine that it has not changed? Have you installed the mod correctly? "It doesn't work for me" does not help you or anyone else for that matter in solving the issue.

Thanks!!
